General Information on Medical Attendant Visa
Overview
The Medical Attendant Visa (MED-2) is issued to family members or caregivers accompanying a patient who is traveling to India for medical treatment under a Medical Visa (MED-1). A maximum of two attendants are allowed per patient, and the visa is co-terminus with the MED-1 visa—meaning it shares the same validity.
This visa ensures that patients undergoing critical or long-term treatment in India are supported by close companions throughout their recovery journey.
Who Can Apply?
The MED-2 Visa is suitable for:
- Immediate family members, close relatives, or caregivers accompanying a patient traveling on a Medical Visa (MED-1).
- A maximum of two individuals accompanying the patient per visa cycle.
- Applicants who are able to provide documentation from the hospital/institution confirming the patient’s treatment and the need for accompaniment.
Application Guidelines
- The MED-2 visa is valid for the same duration as the corresponding Medical Visa (MED-1).
- No registration with FRRO/FRO is required if the visa is issued for 6 months or less.

- Be valid for at least 6 months
- Have a minimum of 3 blank pages
- Be in good condition (no damage or tampering)
- Applicants are required to submit biometrics (photo and fingerprints) at the time of visa submission.
