Overview

Indian nationals residing in South Korea can register the birth of their child born in South Korea at the Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC). The birth registration is essential for obtaining a Birth Certificate and can serve as a basis for acquiring an Indian passport for the child. This service is applicable for children born to Indian nationals or to a mixed-nationality couple where one parent is an Indian citizen.

List of Documents to be submitted along with the application-

1. Printout of duly filled online Birth Registration Form on MHA’s website.
2. Original Birth Certificate issued by the South Korean authorities (translated into English, if issued in Korean) and a notarized copy.
3. Hospital discharge summary or birth notification (if applicable).
4. Passports and residence permits of both parents (original and copies).
5. Marriage certificate of parents (if applicable).
6. Indian passport of the parent(s) (original and self-attested copies).
7. Photocopy of Alien Registration Cards (front & back).
8. Photocopy of parents’ visas showing entry date in South Korea.
9. Residence registration or utility bills of both parents.
10. Two recent passport-size photographs of the child (size: 3.5 x 3.5 cm, with a white background).
11. Signed declaration by both parents regarding the nationality and citizenship of the child.
