Applications sent through Post or Courier are considered as “Postal Applications.” Applicants opting for this method must follow specific instructions and meet all requirements to ensure successful processing:
- If applying for a passport service via post, you must submit a completed and signed application form along with all necessary documents listed in the “Documents Checklist” section.
- ⚠️Note: For certain services, personal presence at the Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) may still be mandatory, even if applying by post.
- Documents must be sent by registered mail to the correct designated ICAC, in accordance with all photograph specifications, fee instructions, and jurisdiction guidelines.
- You may choose to have your passport returned via courier using the ICAC’s return service—ensure the return address is correctly mentioned.
- All documents must be properly sealed before posting. Incomplete forms or incorrect fees will lead to processing delays.
- Any deficiencies or incomplete submissions will be reflected and updated continuously in the application tracking system on the portal.
- Only one application per package is allowed. Do not include multiple applications in a single postal envelope.
- The return shipping address must exactly match the address proof submitted with your application.
